The fire started between 6:30 and 7:00 this morning. We have lost everything in the concession building and the building will be torn down after the investigation is completed. The board of directors have all ready been working hard to figure out what and how we can provide for the needs of the ball players and families this week and in the weeks coming.
PLEASE if you have questions about your specific games contact your coach or team mom. The Majors game that is scheduled for the Bobby Gibson field tonight will be moved to Williamstown. We will post a new location for Tuesdays games as soon as we have it worked out. We are hoping to play Thursdays and Saturday's games at Bobby Gibson if we are given the permission to do so.
Our concessions director Cathy Hoehn is working hard to figure out a plan B for concessions at the front field but for now we are going to try to at the bare minimum to have coolers with drinks but it would not be a bad idea for each family or team to rally and come prepared with drinks and snacks handy for their games. Especially as the temperatures rise this week. Coca Cola has offered us several rolling cooler barrels to help us with our attempt to provide cold beverages to you in the front field. This will make this monumental task a little easier for us. The back concession building will operate as usual for the games in the back of the park.
We have been talking with Grant County Park Director, Tabitha Clemons, and we WILL REBUILD! Unfortunately it will make finishing this season harder on all of us and our volunteers but we have proven that a little hard work doesn't deter us from making things happen. The people who have been committed to bringing a fun, safe and enjoyable experience too you and your kids, the last two years, are the same people who are working behind the scenes as I type this message to figure out what's next for our league.
The games will go on!!! Watch Channel 9 tonight at 5:30 for this story to be aired on the news and check WCPO website for more details. We will try to post information and ways people can help as soon as decisions are made.
In the mean time we are remembering Bobby Gibson and all he did to lay a great foundation for baseball in Grant County. It was on his shoulders that we began our seasons of building. This will slow us down but it will not stop us from what we love! Baseball and kids!
